Junior lecturer Master’s Programme Neurosciences

Your function

We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about education. As junior lecturer of the Master’s programme Neurosciences, you will be involved in various teaching and organizational activities. You will be encouraged to work on academic innovations and to build a portfolio in the context of education as a preparation for various career paths. To this end, you will have the opportunity to acquire an ‘university teaching qualification’ (UTQ or BKO).

The junior lecturer wil be expected to:

  • be actively involved in teaching within the Career and Academic Skills and Portfolio (CASP) course;
  • contribute to the development of academic skills and community-building activities in the CASP course and internships;
  • initiate and participate in innovation projects to further improve teaching practices in the programme; 
  • contribute to promotional activities and organization of events;
  • assist in coordination and administrative tasks of the programme, including communication with students, teachers and management;
  • contribute to the admission procedures of the programme. 

Your profile

The candidate must have completed a Master in Life Sciences, and should have a proven affinity and experience with education. Candidates who have completed or are close to completing a PhD are particularly encouraged to apply for this position. 

In addition, the candidate must  

  • be fluent in English; 
  • have strong oral and written communication skills; 
  • possess good organizational skills; 
  • be proactive and able to work independently; 
  • having skills in scientific programming of R, Python or Matlab is a plus.

What do we offer?

  • a salary of minimum € 3.226,00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 5.090,00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Teacher 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for 0.8 FTE. Your employment contract will be for a set period of 50 months, with a probation period of two months.   

We also offer you attractive fringe benefits and regulations. Some examples:

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
  • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
  • contribution to commuting expenses
  • optional model for designing a personalized benefits package
  • discounts on collective insurances (healthcare- and car insurance);

The junior lecturer position is embedded in the Center for Neurogenomics and Cognitive Research (https://cncr.nl) The position is available with a start date at August 15 or September 1st 2024.
