Research Assistant VU Behavioral Lab

Join the VU Behavioural Lab! We're seeking a student-assistant to support interdisciplinary research in behavioural science at our new Applied Behavioural Science Lab.

The VU Behavioural Lab (VBL) is looking for a new student assistant to help organizing and running experimental behaviour research studies.

The VBL is interdisciplinary and consists of several laboratories from different disciplines – bringing together scholars from behavioural economics, psychology, organizational behaviour, marketing, public administration, law, and communication. It is designed to integrate, professionalize, and expand the facilities for behavioural experimental research, in order to stimulate research and collaborations, and to improve visibility.

Your tasks will be:

  • Lab experimenter (setting up the lab, welcoming participants, running the experiments, answering questions, making sure all the programs work/run smoothly).
  • Administration and maintenance of student pool in the SONA system. This includes:
    • Training of researchers and students on how to use these platforms  
    • Approval of studies
    • Recruiting participants
    • Administration of financial payments to participants
  • Organization of lab and online sessions.
  • Be able to resolve any IT related issues quickly.
  • Frequently updating lab manuals on our website.
  • Occasionally helping with setting up experiments and data entry.

Jouw profiel

We are looking for a student (e.g, Research Master in Social Psychology, Cognitive Neuropsychology, or Artificial Intelligence) who:

  • Has experience in experimental research. Affinity with research within one of the following domains: social and cognitive psychology, consumer behaviour, behavioural economics, organization and communication science, empirical legal studies.
  • Experience recruiting participants from SONA platform.
  • Experience working with Qualtrics.
  • Has a high level of IT knowledge including knowing HTML/JavaScript/GitHub.
  • Is proactive and likes to work with people.
  • Is well-organized and flexible.
  • Is precise, reliable, and works independent.
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus.

  • If you remain a student of the VU and your services are evaluated positively, it is possible to become a lab assistant in your next academic year.
  • A preferred start date on 01 March 2025
