• PhD in Biogeochemistry, environmental science, hydrology, or soil ecology, preferably towards GHG emissions of organic soils 
• Experience with Eddy Covariance GHG measurements and data processing
• Proficiency with programming approaches and use of R or Python.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary research team
• English language proficiency both in speech and in writing
• Driving license

• a salary of minimum € 3.378,00 (Scale 10) and maximum €  5.331,00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Researcher 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
• a 3-year position for at least 0.8 FTE. Your employment contract will initially start with a 1 year contract and will be extended with another 2 years when both employee and employer are satisfied with the position and performance.

About the project
You will work in an interdisciplinary Carbon and Water research team (4 Postdocs, 4 PhD students and 4 senior researchers). This team combines researchers from both the Earthsciences and Alife departments at the VU and works closely together with the National Research Program on Greenhouse Gases from Peatlands (NOBV). The NOBV-program already established a national monitoring network to quantify emissions and evaluate mitigation measures. In this program we continuously track greenhouse gas fluxes from Dutch peat soils with now up to 5 years of high quality data. The monitoring network and its datasets form an unique starting point and research infrastructure for the whole research team and your project specifically.
