Pre- and Post-Award Grant Officer (European Funding and collaborative grants)

Your function

The School of Business and Economics (SBE) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Pre- and Post-Award Grant Officer to join its Research Office. In this role, you will provide expert support throughout the entire grant lifecycle, with a particular focus on national and European collaborative funding programmes and multi-partner consortium applications.

About the Research Office
The Research Office supports SBE researchers in developing, funding, and managing high-quality research. The office provides expertise in research funding, project management, research ethics, data management, Open Science, research policy, and PhD policy. By working closely with researchers, faculty leadership, and university support services, the Research Office fosters an environment that enables impactful, responsible, and high-quality research and doctoral training.

Your Role
As Pre- and Post-Award Grant Officer, you will support researchers through the entire grant circle: from the initial identification of funding opportunities through proposal development, submission, project implementation, and reporting.

You will play a key role in supporting applications to European funding programmes such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) doctoral networks, and other national and international collaborative funding schemes (NWA; KIC). You will work closely with academic staff, consortium partners, external stakeholders, university support departments, and the grant advisor and project manager of the Research Office to ensure successful grant acquisition and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Award

  • Identify and communicate relevant funding opportunities to researchers.
  • Advise researchers on European, national, and international collaborative funding programmes.
  • Support the preparation and submission of collaborative grant applications.
  • Coordinate complex consortium proposals involving multiple international partners.
  • Assist with proposal planning, timelines, budget development, and administrative requirements.
  • Review funding guidelines and ensure compliance with sponsor requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between researchers, partners, and central university services during the proposal phase.

Post-Award

  • Support the administrative and financial management of awarded projects.
  • Monitor project progress, deliverables, milestones, and reporting obligations.
  • Advise project teams on grant agreements, consortium agreements, and funding regulations.
  • Coordinate project amendments and communication with funding agencies where required.
  • Support financial reporting and audit preparation in collaboration with finance colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and funder requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

General

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of research support services and procedures.
  • Organize information sessions and workshops on collaborative research funding opportunities.
  • Monitor developments in national and European research funding and translate them into opportunities for SBE researchers.
  • Build and maintain a strong network with internal and external stakeholders.

Your profile

  • Master's degree.
  • Demonstrable experience in research support, grant management, or project management within higher education, research institutes, government, or related sectors.
  • Knowledge of European funding programmes, particularly Horizon Europe and consortium-based projects.
  • Experience with proposal development and/or post-award project administration.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and a service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.

  • a salary of minimum € 3.706,00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 6.682,00 (Scale 11) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Project Manager 4. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
  • a position for 0.6 FTE-0,8 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 1 year, with the possibility of extension..

  • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.
